Become a TPWD Certified Angler Education Instructor.
This free workshop is open to anyone 18 or older interested in learning and teaching fishing skills and aquatic conservation in their communities.
Section 1 - Conventional Fishing Instructor Certification: 9am - 2pm: The conventional fishing workshop covers all the basics and gives you the skills and tools you need to become an effective instructor. Topics include: teaching techniques, equipment, knot-tying, fish ID and habitats, regs, ethics and safety. All equipment and materials are provided for the workshop. After certification, the program provides the curriculum, equipment (where available), materials and support to help volunteers successfully introduce others to fishing. Ideal for fishing clubs, teachers, scout or youth group leaders, after school or camp staff and community volunteers. TEA-approved CPE available for teachers. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and footwear for outdoor activities.
Section 2 - Optional Fly Fishing Instructor Certification: 2pm - 4pm: This instructor supplemental course is for new or experienced Angler Education instructors with some previous fly fishing experience. Fly casting, line set-up, knot tying and other fly fishing techniques will be covered at the end of the workshop. Please bring your fly fishing rod/reel.

If certifying in both conventional and fly fishing, - you must register for BOTH sections.
Please plan to bring snacks, water, and a sack lunch, especially if planning to attend both parts.
